I was wrong about construction — not because I lacked knowledge, but because I had not yet been challenged to stretch my thinking, discipline, and character the way LeadRoyale did. The company did not simply assign tasks; it reshaped how I approach problems, people, and responsibility.
As a Site Engineer Intern, my first assignment was the massive Guzape project, which will always remain my favorite. The scale of the work — rock drilling, controlled blasting, and the constant rhythm of trucks and excavators — made me feel I was exactly where I needed to be. That experience elevated the professional standards I now hold myself to.
LeadRoyale is a space where young professionals are pushed and supported in equal measure. From day one, I was surrounded by talented colleagues: sharp thinkers, disciplined executors, and people who refuse to settle for easy answers. Their standards became mine. The company culture encouraged me to ask questions, accept responsibility early, and confront real challenges rather than perform small tasks disguised as experience.
Within one year, I worked across multiple projects that tested different aspects of my craft: planning, site operations, structural design, precast batcher design, and adjustable formwork design. My contributions include:
- Participation in 10 construction site operations
- Contribution to 6 planning projects
- Participation in 4 structural design tasks
- Contribution to 5 BOQ preparations
- Involvement in cost control activities
One of the most defining responsibilities I accepted was serving as Project Manager for the renovation of 12 apartment units at Ganduwawa. That role forced me to grow quickly — coordinating teams, making timely decisions, and carrying the weight of client expectations. It was demanding, humbling, and ultimately transformative.
None of this growth happened by accident. LeadRoyale’s leadership intentionally builds people, not just projects. I am profoundly grateful to the CEO for leading by example, for trusting young professionals with meaningful responsibilities, for seeing potential before perfection, and for creating a culture that lifts people while it builds projects. That trust compelled me to step up, own my mistakes, and aim higher.
I also owe sincere thanks to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) for the clear, practical guidance and insightful video sessions. A special mention goes to Builder Usman, whose patience and onsite mentorship bridged the gap between the drawing board and the worksite. He demonstrated the small but essential skills that textbooks do not teach — how to read a site’s rhythm, how to lead a team through tough days, and how craftsmanship shapes outcomes. He truly showed me the light.
What sets LeadRoyale apart is not a single policy or project; it is a consistent pattern of trust, challenge, and support. In one year here, I gained experience that might have taken three or more years elsewhere. The accelerated learning was not easy, but it was real — and it has shaped the engineer I am becoming.
I am deeply grateful for the opportunities, mentorship, and confidence placed in me. LeadRoyale has refined both my skills and my values. I look forward to carrying these lessons into every part of my professional journey.
